As usual I have already done most of my tasks by Wednesday and the reason why I am always in such a hurry is that I have been attending another online course at the same time and I have tasks and assignments to do for that course as well. It is at http://www.seeta.eu/ and the name of the course is Adapting Your Coursebook With Technology .
Another thing I have coming up this weekend is Cambridge Day organized by Cambridge University Press.I have to prepare for that event because three months ago I won their competition and on Saturday there is an official ceremony to hand me in my prize. You can see the announcement at

The reason I am telling you this is to motivate you to participate in all competitions for teachers because hard work is always awarding and brings prizes and not only material ones. The satisfaction you feel after winning a competition is just amazing. It boosts your motivation in a way that you think you can do anything. I consider this course we are all attending as a first prize win as well, because the knowledge I will get from this course and the skills I will acquire will definitely help me win more competitions!
My congratulations!
ReplyDeleteThis week I have a similar situation and try to finish the assignments by Wednesday. I agree with you that participation in different contests is rewarding and I am like you here. Though sometimes it is rather hard to beat the stress of getting all things done. I also have two children and this week they caught a cold and it always makes me so depressed. I feel a bit guilty that I am so busy with my job and professional development activities - it seems I don't devote more time to them. How do you manage with your girls? How old are they?
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI decided to write a comment referring to juggling in life with kids, as I have one and saw on Dragana's profile she has two, and here what I have found. Anastasia....higlihting the same issue ... lots of laugh, .... today is full of coincidences. and this board is getting more "feminine" :)
CONGRATUALTIONS on winning the competition.. I feel inspired and stimulated to do more ...I have never taken a part in a competition before, but I will have a look at that link as soon as possible.
Thanks for the encouragement
Bye
Sebnem
Dear Anastasia and Sebnem,
ReplyDeleteI think we are all super women: mothers, wives and successful teachers. (we wouldn`t be on this course if that was not true!).My life is a real race from 6 am to 11p.m.Apart from working in a state high school I also own a private language school with 150 students and 5 teachers. My girls are almost 6 and 2.I also feel guilty that I don`t spend more time with them, but we have weekends and the school holidays are long in the winter and summer, so I am all theirs and I make it up to them.
I am glad I encouraged you to participate in competitions, that was my goal! The stronger the opponents, the better the win!
I agree that this is becoming feminine, but I like it. We are women, after all and need to talk about other things. Who knows, maybe we`ll meet one day. I have been to Turkey once and it has been a very popular destination for Serbs in the last ten years. I have never been to Russia, but I would love to go. There is so much historical heritage that connects Serbs, Russian (the language and our Orthodox religion) and Turks(remember the Turks were present in Serbia for almost 500 years) and now we have your television serials like tele- novelas which are becoming increasingly popular here.
Take care girls,
Dragana
Hi Dragana,
ReplyDeleteHow hard you are working: combining teaching, attending Webskill course, attending an online course and preparing to receive your prize. This is a great feat. If it were not for teaching, you couldn't have done all that simultaneously, I dare say.
Like you, I am also doing other readings. I am currently pursuing my PhD studies in sociolinguistics. Becasue my time is closing in, I am always doing my Weskill assignments in hurry, usually sitting up to midnight. But don't you think that what we are learning deserves all these hardships? At the time you receive your prize you will forget all difficulties you came across. Congratulations!
I appreciate your work, and if you could let me know how I can apply for the coming competitions, that's great. I couldn't find the relevant link to the coming competitions, if any.
best
Garri
Dear Garri,
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that we all work hard on this course and in our jobs. I finished my Master`s thesis a few months ago in general linguistics, more precisely in Spanish vocabulary and ways to apply it in teaching. The paper was in Spanish. It is the other language I teach.
I will be happy to let you know about any competitions I participate in. Cambridge ESOL is launching another competition for English language teachers who prepare for their exams in November. I won the competition last year and the prize was a seven day visit to Cambridge ESOL centre. There were 11 teachers chosen from all over the world. I have been informed that they are organizing it again, but I don`t know what the prize will be this year. I`ll let you know, as soon as I find out. Right now there is a competition going on that I am going to participate in. It is organized by Pearson Longman a publisher. You can win a Flip Video Camera. Here is the link http://www.pearsonlongman.com/speakout/competition.html?WT.mc_id=compoctnews
I hope other teachers who are doing this course will be interested in participating as well.
I am in, so let the best man/woman win.
My best,
Dragana
Hello Dragana,
ReplyDeleteBeing a mother to two kids, a teacher to hundreds of students, a coach and a mentor to several student-contestants truly make you a wonderful woman. You might not have superpowers nor come in majestic superhero costume, but for those whose lives you touched.... you are their hero. Congratulations for your diadems and I wish you all the best for your next ventures.
REBECCA CASAS SAGOT
Wow Dragana!
ReplyDeleteYou really deserved it! Participating in parallel programs and doing them so efficiently! Hats off to you!
